  • The Ancient Dreamers Illuminate Their Hope

The Ancient Dreamers Illuminate Their Hope

For a long while, no one speaks. The humming beneath the stones had softened, settling into the earth … and is sensed by them as a distant vibration …

The five friends stand quietly beneath the stars unveiling themselves in the blackened blue sky… with a full moon on its way.

    Moire notices something.

    “Where’s Caela?”

They turn to find her at the great circular stone in the center of the ruins.

She seems as though she’s resting.

    Then Solina gasped.

Caela’s body begins to float just a few inches above the rounded stone slab.

She floats effortlessly, suspended between earth and sky.

“Caela!” Amara crieds out, taking a step forward.

Tahuya gently touches her arm. “Wait.”

Caela’s face is peacefully alive. Almost luminous.

    She is somewhere else.

Caela is conscious but she is in a different place.

The air shimmers around her. A grove of ancient trees stretches toward the sky.  Rivers of liquid light seem to move from the trees  through gardens of unspeakable beauty.

Caela looks closer at the grove of Ancient trees … When she does, the trees shapeshift into a grove of ancient Dreamers. Some carry the love and wisdom of the Grandmothers. Some the love and understanding of the Grandfathers. Others radiate the fierce wonder of a child. All of the dreamers radiate something that has no name … and seem to glow from within.

They welcome her as though they have been expecting her all along.

One of the Ancient Dreamers approaches.

“What would you like me to dream for you?”

Caela feels her unexpected tears sliding down her face. She thinks about:  Moire’s wonder and his willingness to question things, Amara’s courage, and her resolute to speak outload what others are afraid to. Tahuya’s quiet wisdom and deep respect for his ancestry, and how the earth seems to rhythmically move through Solina who has taken upon herself to be its guardian.

She remembers the people arriving … to join this revolution of freedom – and how the world seems to have lost its connection with itself – how the people have lost their sense of belonging …

Then she whispers,  “I want a dream that helps us become who we are meant to be. A dream that helps people remember they are not alone.”

The Dreamer opens her arms. “Then dream with us. ” The other Dreamers join in and surroundCaela … becoming luminous and radiant. They seem to unfold like the petals of a great lotus opening.

Caela feels herself wrapped in a love so vast she no longer knows where she ends and where she begins … or even if she has a beginning or ending.

She has spent so much of her life trying to get things right.

    Trying to be enough.

    Trying not to disappoint.

The Dreamers ask nothing of her.

They simply love and dream together with and for her.

Back among the ruins, Caela’s floating body slowly descends onto the circular stone.  Her eyes open, as the others are gathered around her.

    Waiting.

Tears glisten on her cheeks.  “The Dreamers dreamed for us,” she whispers.

“We will find our way. I don’t know how. But I know we are not alone.”

She looks at each of them in turn.

“We don’t have to try so hard.”

“We’ve been trying to do everything right because we’re afraid of falling short.”

    “But what if…”

    Her voice softens.

“What if love is not waiting for us at some finish line?”

“What if it has been with us all along?”

  • The Stones Respond to The Unknown of Their Songs

The Stones Respond to The Unknown of Their Songs

The hum of the stones and crystals is so faint they wonder if the hum has emerged from within themselves.

Caela’s song seems to have a life of its own … moving through her in rhythm, reaching deeper into the hum of the stones and crystals …

Tahuya joins her … not with words … with a low melody seeming to rise from somewhere older than memory.

Solina closes her eyes and begins adding sounds of her own. The rustling of leaves, the rhythm of rain, the call of distant birds woven into human breath.

Amara shifts uneasily. “What are we doing?” she whispers.

    No one answers.

Moire notices that the air itself seems thicker now, as though the space around them has become more attentive.

The humming beneath their feet deepens.

The stones vibrate with greater intensity …

    Once.

    Then again.

    Caela opens her eyes.

    “Do you feel that?”

The ancient stones and crystals, forgotten by the ordinary world … feel almost alive in their vibrations.

Waves of fear and wonder move through all of them.

They begin moving, as if instinctively, among the standing stones and crystals, weaving around them in a slow, serpentine dance.

    No one leads.

    No one follows.

    The music moves them.

Their songs flow into the stones … into the crystals.

    And something seemingly impossible happens.

The stones respond to their songs … as though they remember …

    Not with words.

    Not even with melody.

But with tones so deep they seem to rise from the core of the earth itself.

The vibrations move through their feet, through their bones, through places within them for which they have no name.

They remember something they had forgotten. Yet they can’t put words to it …

    Amara stopped moving.

“This is freaking me out,” she said, her voice trembling.

    “Who are we?”

    Silence settles throughout the ruins.

    Then Solina speaks softly.

“I think it’s okay to be frightened.”

    “I am too.”

    Tahuya nods.

“Maybe courage isn’t the absence of fear, Maybe it’s knowing we can pause. We can stop. We can create boundaries that help us feel safe enough to remain present with mysteries.

They could feel the ruins listening.

And the five friends stood together beneath the violet sky, aware that something has begun.

    Something beautiful.

    Something terrifying.

Something that has been waiting for them … far longer than they could understand.

Above them, the first stars appeared.

Beneath them …  the quiet of the unknown stirs …

  • A Story Begins in the Forever of the Between

A Story Begins in the Forever of the Between

After performing their song, Freedom’s Revolution, and speaking with protesters searching for courage, meaning, and a different kind of hope, Moire, Amara, Caela, Tahuya, and Solina drift away toward the huge crystalline formations and ancient stones,

No maps acknowledge these huge crystals and stones …  The nearby towns never speak of them.

Most people pass directly through this land without seeing anything unusual at all.

The ancient stones and crystals are there … between what has been and what will be.

Caela and Tahuya discover the ruins during a long walk, while the others are talking with the town’s people … Or it could be that the ancient stones and crystals discover them?

Their music has always been an attempt to reach beyond the ordinary.

None of them would have described it that way at first.

They all knew that something inside of them was reaching for a deeper remembering – but what they didn’t know is that it wasn’t yet possible to remember. They were looking for possible futures they could somehow feel or sense … but could not yet imagine or even believe to be possible.

Tahuya and Caela call this place where they meet — the ‘Between’.

It’s a place where imagination is more alive … where the mysteries can breathe in rhythm with life … where its safe to be different and feel a sense of belonging and being valued …

“But why can we see these stones and crystals and others can’t ?” Moire suddenly blurts out.

“Do the people, who come to experience our music in search of their own freedom, see this place too?”

    He pauses.

Then adds, “Were we called here?”

They sense a presence responding to their question, moving quietly through the stones and crystals.

    The air feels different.

Thicker … As though it is paying attention …

The crystalline and stone ruins themselves seem to be alive.

    Tahuya closes his eyes.

“Maybe,” he says softly, “we can find the ‘quiet’ inside ourselves..”

The others become quiet … then slowly close their eyes beside him.

Silence seems to envelop them as though it were a cool mist .…

Then … very gently … Caela begins singing. The song coming from her is searching …

The stones and crystals, in their silence, almost imperceptibly, begin to vibrate …
